Guardiola on Gaza: “We see children killed by bombs or in hospital. Refuse to remain silent”

During the award ceremony of an honorary degree at the University of Manchester, Pep Guardiola chose to use the stage for a heartfelt and unconventional appeal: to talk about Gaza. The Manchester City manager, usually reserved on current affairs, forcefully asked not to turn away from the tragedy that is hitting the Strip. “We see four-year-old boys and girls killed by bombs or in hospital, which is no longer a hospital. We may think that it is none of our business, but be careful: the next children could be ours,” Guardiola told an emotional audience. The Spanish coach added that it is not about politics or ideology, but about “love of life and caring for others”. Guardiola spoke of his difficulty in remaining indifferent: “I am sorry, I see my children every morning since the nightmare began in Gaza and I am so scared. Maybe this image seems distant, but a person’s power is their choice: to refuse to remain silent”.
